Besides the main line trains to North Bend – like the Chicago Milwaulkee and St. Paul, and the Seattle Lake Shore and Eastern – there were snaking about the forested hills surrounding these towns set against the Cascades fertile shower curtain many narrow-gauged lumber railroads, which after clearing the forest were pulled up and reapplied through some other dense growth of Douglas Fir and Cedar.
