Moments before the work on the Railroad Avenue seawall north from Madison to Bay Street. The Pike Street wharf is on the right, here home to volunteer and professional organizations – and businesses – having to do, for the most part, with fishing. The gaping hole in Railroad Avenue reveals the tideflat below the trestle. These were called, by some, the “man traps” for a few did fall or drive into them.
