The Fire Station, now on the far left, has survived the razing of most of Denny Hill’s front hump, although some of it survives at the center of the scene where 4th Avenue still climbs it southeast flank – but not for lone. That will also soon be regraded down to the present grade, then as far east at 5th Avenue only, where the regrading stopped until 1929. This scene is from ca.1908. It looks north into the regrade from the southside of Pine, somewhat closer to 3rd avenue than to 4th and so quite close to the corner taken by the women in the top photograph only some 54 years later.
