The ice at Columbia Cold Storage fought a fire and won and yet lost. This was printed a few year back in this blog when we ran for the better part of two years Kodachrome snaps by Horace Stokes. We named the series “Our Daily Stokes.” Horace was a fire adjuster and fire safety lecturer for Northern LIfe Insutrance. He was also an excellent photographer when it came especially to picturesque subjects, but sometimes he would take a snapshot while at work examining a fire insurance claim.
