The Palouse pantry is perhaps the widest nook in the Sykes kitchen. Many of its examples are as much sky as rolling hills and fruitful fields. And many, like this scene it seems to me, are so picturesque that we may wonder how such a subject was allowed to slip off the canvas to the landscape itself for a Sykes capture.
